A direct descendent of the 1950s and 60s Ivy League popovers, our long sleeve Popover Madras Shirt features a classic 3-button popover placket, a softly rolling button down collar, and a flap button-through pocket. Crafted from authentic Indian Madras, this piece is the perfect bridge between casual ease and Ivy sophistication.
The popover has an undoubted pedigree within Ivy League style; the direct descendent of the longer placket pullover, which was in fact Brooks Brothers first form of button down all the way back in 1896. The shorter placket popover was a staple of the Ivy League Look throughout the 1950s and 60s. Whilst placket lengths did vary, the archetypal model featured a short 3 button placket, which is exactly what we have utilised here at John Simons.
